Año XV: ALEXIS MONSANTO CELEBRATES FIFTEENTH YEAR
Couture Fashion Designer Recognized as The Only Filipino American
at Latin Factory 5 Bienestar Fundraiser
Los Angeles, CA- The glittering world of Los Angeles fashion will sparkle with more radiance and excitement with the eagerly awaited showcase of one of the city’s wunderkind.
Alexis “Bong” Monsanto, the designer of his namesake ALEXIS MONSANTO/LOS ANGELES, celebrates his fifteenth year in the industry (“Año XV”) in 2008 and with more creative juices savoring from his ingenuous designs still to be discovered by his clients, the entertainment capital of the world is anxious to discover what is next for this innovative style genius.
Bienestar, the non-profit organization dedicated in enhancing the health and well being of the underserved Latino community, has graciously invited Alexis to be one of the featured (and the only Filipino American) Los Angeles-based fashion designers. Dubbed “Latin Factory 5”, the event will be held November 13 at The Mayan Theater. The inclusion of Mr. Monsanto at the fashion show fundraiser reflects the ongoing commitment of the designer towards promoting philanthropic causes for LGBT equality rights.
Monsanto’s designs are savored for their exquisite tailoring and precision cuts that flatter a woman’s body and accentuate the natural curves and shapes of a woman’s silhouette. His treatment to fabrics as his canvass is transformed into glamorous evening gowns and two-piece ensembles that are classic, yet suited for the woman with a fashion forward sensibility. Drawing influence as an avid patron of the arts, his passion for fashion is motivated by his unparalleled love of Opera, Symphony and Broadway musicals, as well as the Surrealist art by Salvador Dali and Pablo Picasso. To this day, the works of masters Valentino and Ungaro remain as a source of inspiration for their elegant design and styling.
In addition to designing for ALEXIS MONSANTO/LOS ANGELES, he has joined the design team of Tt Collection, he has been a yearly juror of Otis School of Art and Design, and a guest lecturer of the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising.
